LEED® Contributions for Low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)
LEED, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is a rating system developed by the the United States Green Building Council. LEED is transforming the way we think about our buildings by certifying then as LEED, LEED Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Certification is based on points accumulated across six categories: Sustainable Sites, Energy & Atmosphere, Materials & Resources, Indoor Enviromental Quality, Water Efficiency, and Innovation. Within each of the credit categories, projects must satisfy prerequisites and earn points. The number of points the project earns determines its level of LEED certification.
IPG products with the Low VOC Level 2 icon can help contribute towards points in LEED building projects for two of these categories; “Energy & Atmosphere” and “Indoor Enviromental Quality” standards. These products can help increase the overall energy efficiency of a building with products containing low to zero VOC. Look for the Low VOC Level 1 icon for IPG products that can help contribute towards points in one category; “Indoor Enviromental Quality” standards.
